Over the years, my customers and I have come up with many ways to use the Italian Dipping Herbs. START by mixing the Herb packet with 1 cup olive oil. Let this mixture sit in your pantry for a couple of days to allow the flavors to mingle. (Always stir the mixture right before using so you get some herbs in each spoonful of olive oil.) Ok, here are the ideas: 1) Spread a thin layer on your pizza pan before laying down the pizza dough instead of using an oil spray. 2) Slice zucchini long ways, brush with the herb/oil mixture and grill - YUM!!!! 3) Drizzle a teaspoon or two over canned green beans - this really dresses up the flavor. 4) Mix a couple tablespoons with an equal amount of Red Wine Vinegar and use as a dressing for your lettuce salad. 5) Use in place of plain olive oil when you sauté vegetables or make stir-fry. 6) While your favorite pasta is cooking, lightly sauté (want veggies to still have a little crunch) in a tablespoon or so of the herb/oil mixture small chunks of zucchini (green & yellow), bell pepper (green & red), broccoli, red onion and grape tomatoes. Drain the pasta and add it to the veggies; drizzle with a tablespoon or two of the herb/oil and toss. This really plates up nicely, is colorful, very tasty and a real change from pasta sauce. I sometimes add slices of smoked sausage to the skillet while I sauté the veggies which gives the dish a whole different flavor. TRY THEM ALL!!! And let me know if you have other ways you use the Italian Dipping Herbs so I can share them in a future blog. ENJOY!!!!
